Conference Presentations

The proceedings of the 5th Annual European DDI User Conference (EDDI13) in December 2013 in Paris, France include several full papers (introduced for the first time in 2013). All presentations and posters of the conference are available at the conference website.

Gierl, Claude and Johnson, Jon: How Do We Manage Complex Questions in the Context of the Large-Scale Ingest of Legacy Paper Questionnaires into DDI Lifecycle? 2014. DOI: 10.3886/eDDIGierl (related presentation).
This paper describes a project to make the metadata for nine of the UK's birth cohort studies available and searchable online in DDI Lifecyle format, with an emphasis on how the project intends to handle complex questions.

Hoyle, Larry: Using Extended Attributes in Data Analysis Software. Controlled Vocabularies, Tools and DDI. 2014. DOI: 10.3886/eDDIHoyle (related presentation).
The major data statistical software packages permit user-defined extended attributes for variables and datasets. This paper explores potential uses of these attributes with DDI metadata.

This paper reports on the results of work to integrate the PROV model into DDI metadata for a complex example of social science data.
